Gospel music producer, singer and songwriter D.reign has experienced the cravings and emotional struggles that only a drug addict understands.
When he was introduced to the habit on joining secondary school, nothing could keep him away from drugs.
Real name Dalton Nyesigomwe, D.reign was a drug addict for 15 years. He was unable to tame his craving for substances that included heroin, marijuana, crystal meth and alcohol.
“I was high on drugs for 15 years. It all started in my form one, right after joining secondary school. I used every kind of drug that you have heard of. As a young man, I was so desperate for fame and recognition among my peers. Using these drugs gave us temporary pleasures on top of generating confidence.” He told UG Christian News, adding that years revolved as he sourced around supplying himself with more drugs.
Now delivered, it is clear to the singer that without a dramatic change in life, it will only be a matter of time until those still battling the same substances suffer the fate that comes with the addiction.
“I completely broke away from the addiction 2 years back. I want to share my testimony with some one struggling with drug addiction. This is the reason for the event we have organised.” He said.
D.reign is set to hold a concert labelled, “The Testimony” on 4th March, 2017 at Garden City rooftop.
The event will feature fellow artists Brian Lubega, Zabuli, Cooply Bly among others.
“Most people have heard my music and really don’t know where I came from. You will get to know who D.reign is at this show. Inform any friend or relative who you know is battling drugs to come join us.”
With sponsors Ug Gospel Life and Platinum Gospel, one will pay 20,000/= for the highly anticipated event beginning 6pm.
D.reign has released songs like, ‘A man called Jesus’, ‘Lion of Zion’, ‘Baba oh’, ‘Christian kungfu’ and ‘Oh la la’ that features award winning singer Zabuli Juliah.
He has been a fixture in the Christian music industry for the past few years, and will also discussed the immense success that he has had in his career, while additionally delving into his amazing experiences of working with Teen Challenge Uganda.
