With less than 3 weeks to its 66th graduation ceremony, Makerere University has through its Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ddumba Ssentamu suspended Dr. James Wokadala, the Dean School of Statistics and Planning.
The institution said Monday that following the interaction Dr Wokadala had with the appointments board, he failed to explain why he hired a one Mr Opio and, also had irregularities giving in students scripts.
“I have decided to suspend you. Should you manage to retrieve the scripts from Mr Opio by Midday, Thursday 2nd February 2017, and bring them to my office, this suspension will be accordingly lifted.” Said Professor John Ddumba Ssentamu, through a letter addressed to the Dean, 30th January 2017.
“In the event that marks and scripts are not recovered, the effected students will be given a special examination on Friday, 3rd February 2017, which will be marked on the same day to enable the students graduate on time.” He added.
The institution’s office of Academic Registrar said 16 January 2017 that their 66th graduation Ceremony will be held from Tuesday 19th to Friday 22nd January 2016.
