One elderly man says that God has done much in his life ever since he started reading the bible.
Hodlam Chisongela, 86, was very sick and could not see with his left eye, so he had to rely on his right eye.
Speaking to The Word For The World (TWFTW), an international organisation that strives to produce translations of the complete Bible that are accurate to the meaning of the original manuscripts, Hodlam explained that before he went for an operation to improve the eye in 2016, he had a dream.
He said: ‘I saw someone give me the… Bible, and that person said, “You will not go for an operation on your eye; but instead, you will be healed. Speak with the older people in your village about the (word of God) and about your healing.”
Hodlam, once a Muslim, said that when he woke up the next morning, he realized he could see out of his left eye!
He went straight away to the church to tell his pastor about the dream, and the pastor said, “Jesus Christ was the man in your dream, and He has healed you!”
Hodlam, who currently lives in east-central Tanzania, asked God to be able to hear the Spirit’s voice. With the Bible translated in his local language, Hodlam has been able to have a personal experience with scripture. Hodlam hasn’t been able to hear for many years, but he can read and speak.
TWFTW says its team has had great success in Bible translation projects in Tanzania, with 10 completed New Testaments and several projects a quarter of the way through the Old Testament!
The organisation adds that Hodlam’s local language, Nguu, is only one of many languages spoken in Tanzania by over 269, 000 people.
Hodlam, told TWFTW officials that since having access to a Bible in his heart language, he feels that he has “other ears” within him with which he can “hear” the Word of God.
The Nguu speaking people received the Nguu New Testament a few years back, but they are still yearning to have the whole Bible in their own language. 39% of the Old Testament is already complete, according to TWFTW.
