Streams of Life Church, Uganda has reported over 300 salvation decisions within the neighborhoods of Kampala since the Ministry intensified its mission of sharing the Gospel outside the walls of the Church.
In a release on Thursday, the Church said 311 souls in total said ‘yes’ to Jesus during their outreach in Nakulabye. Crime is high in the area, media reports show, consistent with similarly congested, low-income areas.
“We are not stopping,” the statement read. “Today, the second day of 2020, we reached out to areas of Nakulabye to preach Christ. We got a harvest of 285 children and 26 adults making 311 souls in total. We bless the Lord of the harvest.”
Gerald Mwebe, the lead Pastor of Streams of Life Church revealed in one of his sermons last year that the most important reason the church exists is because of the great commission.
“As Christ has loved us, His church, we are expected to respond to that love in submission. We submit to the call to preach. We don’t preach because we fear to be punished by God, but it’s His love that compels us. It’s all about love,” he said then.
“The privilege of preaching Christ has not been entrusted to any other creature, not even angels but us humans, me and you. Remember Cornelius the centurion? God sent him an angel to tell him to look for Peter. When Peter came, he preached Christ to him and his household. Do you know that God could have saved a lot of time by just telling the angel to preach to Cornelius about Jesus instead? But they had to wait several days for Peter to arrive. This privilege is not for angels, swift as they are, it has been given to us,” he said.
He added: “You have probably heard the famous saying that goes, “preach the gospel always and if necessary use words,” which many people have interpreted to mean that you can preach by your actions and don’t necessarily have to speak. I don’t want to believe this. Scripture says, How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard, and how shall they hear without a preacher? We have to speak to the nations.”
