23 year old Odong Harold from Bweyogerere was yesterday announced as the grand winner of Daisy Ejang’s Malo Challenge.
Sensational Ugandan gospel singer and former Tusker Project Fame finalist Daisy Ejang unveiled the Malo Challenge earlier in June, with intentions of rewarding her fans with not only cash but also with an exclusive date with her.
The contest involved one recording a short video of oneself singing part of Daisy’s song and then posting it on social media platforms Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and, tagging her to the posts.
Odong Harold was reward 200,000 UGX , Christian radio presenter King Wesley of Spirit FM 96.6 dominated the celebrity category going home with 100,000 UGX.

Speaking to UG Christian News, Odong Harold , a field operations personnel with Overseas Freight Forwarders Ltd says he actually didn’t do serious rehearsal to nail the Malo Challenge.
“I had the song in me. I think I was one of the first people to download this song. I also have the song as my ringtone so, whenever my phone rings, I just sing to it and later respond to the call as I master every line,” thrilled Harold stated
“I have known daisy for sometime actually, I got to know her from Tusker Project Fame. I fell in love with her voice. I got to meet her up close just recently about two months back at my sister’s birthday party. I must say Daisy Ejang is a well disciplined disciple of God. She is really someone you can look up to. she is so amazing at what she does,” Harold added
Did Horald think that he could win? “I didn’t. When I was announced as the winner oh my God, I was so shocked I couldn’t believe this,”
“Actually, I posted 3 videos, two on instagram and one on face book. I had even given up on the challenge because my competitors had nice cameras with clear videos but all in all, I am so happy i won the Malo challenge,” he says
“Thanks to Daisy Ejang because she really motivated me, she posted, don’t mind the camera of the phone,” emotional Harold continued, “I have learnt never to give on something that I have started,”
So, Should we expect that the Malo Challenge, just Like Daily Ejang with the Tusker Project Fame, could spark off Harold’s music career?
Apparently, Harold says truthfully, music is not an easy thing although he really loves singing, “I am always thinking of a tour company. That’s where my passion is,”
Daisy on the other hand says that he was a bit scared to get the challenge kicked off however, thankful that it has paid off. She further says that on top of having wanted to get up-close with her fans, the challenge was a promotion to have the new Malo single on everyone’s lips.
