KAMPALA – Hon. Lady Justice Catherine N. Bamugemereire who has fought large-scale corruption head-on through the Commission investigating land management raised her hands up in prayer during the 2019 new year celebrations at Mandela National Stadium.
She was in the company of her husband George Bamugemereire who is the deputy inspector general of government.
The married mother of two children received recognition for her many achievements, with Dr Joseph Serwadda listing her name among 5 individuals who have influenced and fought among others corruption in Uganda the last year.
“The commission of inquiry, land administration and registration in Uganda has been a game changer in the affairs of this nation. The proceedings of the commission have rallied the entire nation around the issue of land in a manner never experienced before,” Dr Serwadda said.
“Many people who have come to that commission have left laughing when they came in crying. There is alot to speak about but the accolade itself names it. His excellency the President found a good committee and good chairman that fitted very well,” he added.
The born again faith also awarded Dr Jennifer Ssemakula Musisi for all the achievements in her career especially as executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). Dr Serwadda cited 10 reasons for having merited this award.
Jennifer who is away in Brazil was represented by Mr Robert Mutyaba during the prayer gathering.
Hon Cecilia Atim Ogwal, Woman MP for Dokolo county was also honoured for her achievements as a Christian political leader.
“She is a great ambasador for Christ, and she has been a great example of great things on God. She has transformed her community by refusing to accept papayrus Churches,” Dr Serwadda said. “We honour her today.”
Others honoured were the President, Yoweri K Museveni and the Minister of state for tourism, Hon Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi for his contribution to the nation’s tourism Industry.
