2016 is gone, it was a year mixed with joy and sadness, success and failures, excitements and frustrations, laughter and tears, births and deaths but through it all, God has kept us alive and we should be grateful.

As a Christian, we do not believe God only when things are working out well with us, we are required to believe God more in dryness, pain, tears and frustrations. What doesn’t kill you, will make you stronger. Pain and frustration will not last forever. Our faith in God will determine how much we keep ourselves in bondage.

There are those moments when your faith was tested, it was strained that you are thinking of giving up if you haven’t given up already. Brethren, in Christianity there’s no time to take a break, we keep moving and  believing no matter what comes our way. That is the only difference between us who believe in the Supreme God and those who believe in other gods.

Maybe you prayed and fasted, you believed God for marriage, children, scholarship, business, a job, visa, healing etc. But nothing has worked out so far and you feel disappointed and frustrated but before you completely give up, remember Peter and his colleagues who spent the entire night fishing but caught no fish; when Jesus came in the morning and asked, ‘Do you have any fish?’ they said no. He did not advise them to change the River, instead He advised them to cast the nets deeper.

I know you have tried to fish the whole of 2016 but you caught nothing. No work, no marriage, no finances, no education, no stable income, no kids, no peace, no success. When your life is going the opposite direction, it’s not about changing your place of work, changing your church, changing your husband or wife, or giving up.

It’s all about casting your faith deep in God, casting your fellowship with Jesus deep in believing that God will provide, heal, restore, uplift, deliver, revive, and bring blessings and favour along your way.

It is my prayer that the Lord gives you the grace to go deeper. The strength to believe even in dryness, to proclaim his name amidst mockery and to raise your hands to heaven even in weakness.

Our God has not forgotten us, He still calls us his own children and do not let the devil whisper to you otherwise. Let us cast our nets deeper in 2017, pray and fast until we see things change. May God give you a fruitful year.
