KAMPALA – Mothers’ Union Worldwide president, Lynne Tembey has visited Uganda and warned that families are destroyed when married couples chose to fight their own battles, than trust and rely on God .

“As mothers, you hold a critical role in ensuring stable families, stable families are the foundation of the church of Christ and social economic transformation,” said Mrs. Tembey.

“You have also to be mindful of the wellbeing of these families through economic empowerment. I am impressed by what mothers union in Uganda is doing so far,” she added.

She was speaking during a meeting with Mother’s Union leaders at the headquarters of Ankole Diocese in Ruharo, Mbarara Municipality on Wednesday.

She explained that the current family problems are the same worldwide and urged the mothers to trust God for solutions.

“I might be white and you black but we all follow one God and the challenges we face and opportunities we look for are the same as children of God. So we need to come together as a united force; God’s purpose for man is upheld here on earth,” Ms Tembey said.

She toured the Shs.6 billion Mothers Union Family Complex under construction at Ankole diocese. The facility will be a youth and women skills training centre.

Mrs. Lynne Tombey was also the Chief Guest at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe during a colourful thanksgiving service led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace Stanley Ntagali.

She thanked the Mothers Union executive for inviting her to come to Uganda as the initiative celebrates its impact in the world.

The service was attended by Bishop Luwalira, Bishop Haningtone Mutebi, Clergies from different Dioceses, Mothers Union members from different Dioceses among others.

Mothers’ Union has members in 84 countries across the world.  According to the faith-based organisation, these members seek to serve people in their communities through outreach projects and various programmes. They work, offering Christian care for families, regardless of faith or background.

Mothers’ Union was founded by Mary Sumner in 1876. She wanted to create an organisation for women that brought together rich and poor to build a network that would support mothers of all kinds as they brought up their children in Christian faith.
