MASAKA – Women have been told to rely fully on God’s unchanging Word for strength as they wade through the vicissitudes of life.

In her sermon during West Buganda Diocese Women day celebration in Masaka on Thursday, Ms Jane Male, the president Namirembe Diocese Christian Women’s fellowship pointed out the need to believe God’s Words upon which His promises are grounded.

Have those verses that will console you as you pray, Ms Jane Male said, explaining how God’s word through scripture provides the direction one needs to live a life of purpose

“But some ladies do not have such verses and they expect to be winners,” She wondred.

Ms Male urged the women to spread God’s word than engage in spreading profitless talk in society. She further requested them to bear fruits of the Spirit, making reference to the book of John 15.

The diocese joins the rest of the world to mark international Women day under their theme, “You didn’t choose me But I chose you to bear fruits,” John 15:16.

The gathering was graced by bishop of West Buganda Diocese, Rev Henry Katumba Tamale who prayed for female inmates, and decried harsh responses to conflict in families like murder, acid attacks on co-wives or step children.

He prayed that they repent and become new creatures that can control their temper. Bishop Katumba also raised an alarm over men who bare children and later shun responsibility towards them.

A lady made a confession unto salvation during the celebration.
