I was just watching the music video for Maureen Nantume’s new song “Talemwa” that features renowned gospel singer and Pastor Wilson Bugembe.

It’s one of the tracks that main steam music lovers and Christians are adding to their playlists. The video features Maureen Nantume clad in white, singing close to a stair case of a fancy house providing a magnificent background.

Recent reports talked of the Golden Band singer releasing this collaboration themed on customary marriage. Well, the story flow does have an element of marriage, man neglects pregnant wife then God makes it possible for the two to be reunited.

The song and video are both very beautiful, but it’s a testimony of what God does for a believer, in this case Maureen Nantume. Wilson’s lyrics additionally point more to the cross.

This is a question I discussed with a friend once. I should probably give an explanation of what gospel music is first. The gospel music I’m talking about is music that gives glory to God in its lyrics, whether it’s a testimony of what God does for a believer, one’s life style, or direct praise that is speaking to God in the second person point of view.

Maureen Nantume addresses haters and critics whose intention is to bring discouragement.

Responding with silence and prayer, Nantume says that she under-measures criticism, not allowing self be run down, while still sensitive to God’s voice even in the midst of the temptation.
As I listen to the calm, slow tempo song, I am blown away by how enriching Gospel music can be. The music, singing, and production can rival anything “secular”.

My Point, It doesn’t matter whether you brand your song to be gospel or not, its fruit will always prove the point. As a Christian, I will either connect to it, or resent it.

In leaning over to reach the world, Christian music singers often falls in. In trying so hard to be relevant in this God-ignoring society, we need God to lead us.

The Lord does not want us to show the world that we are regular people. Let us embrace rich lyrics and excellent productions. Our music and actions should portray love.
