Light will always have power over darkness. You do not need to tell light to overcome darkness, the moment light comes on, darkness leaves.

We do not train light how to dispel darkness, because by nature light is more powerful than darkness. We no not need to concoct the power of light, light has power in itself.

No body enjoys darkness, it is associated with evil. Growing up as a child, we feared walking at night. No body wants to drive in the streets at night that are not well lit. Why? Because there are people who take advantage of the darkness.

Darkness is terrible. It is oppressive. Darkness does not give people hope. Darkness enslaves people. That is why we need Jesus.

When sin entered the world, darkness came into the world. But Jesus came as the light that overcomes darkness.

1 John 1:4-5 says; In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

The most important thing about light is that it gives life. All plants naturally gravitate towards a source of light. There is no plant that can be green without light. There is no plant that can produce fruit without light.

Without Jesus in us, our lives are meaningless. It is true you may have a lot of money, good job, one degree after the other, but without Jesus, whatever you have achieved, attained or possessed is meaningless. It is only Jesus, the perfect light who makes the difference in the lives of people.

Money comes, and money goes. Wealth comes, and wealth goes. The only person who will never leave you, forsake you or forget you is Jesus. The only person you can never be separated from is Jesus.

In the book of John 8:12, Jesus said; I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.

There are several lives in which Jesus’ perfect light made the difference.

Matthew 12:22 says; then they brought Him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.

The Gospel passage of John 7:53–8:11 recounts the episode of an adulterous woman accused of committing adultery. A group of scribes and Pharisees confronted Jesus and demand Him to render judgement, claiming she was caught in the very act.

As per the prescriptions of the Book of Leviticus (20: 10), the woman was to be condemned to stoning.  Jesus first ignored the interruption and wrote on the ground as though he does not hear them. But when the woman’s accusers continued their challenge, he stated that the one who is without sin should be the one who should cast the first stone.

The accusers and congregants departed, leaving Jesus alone with the woman. Jesus asked the woman if anyone had condemned her. She answers that no one had condemned her. Jesus said that he, too, did not condemn her, and told her to go and sin no more.

When Jesus comes into our lives, he expels the darkness of sin from our lives. This woman was set free from the bondage of sin that day. Jesus shone the light of truth in her life and she never remained the same again. Maybe you are here and feel condemned – or feel ashamed of what you have done.

Maybe you are here and are in spiritual darkness. Can I tell you something, there is Jesus who is the perfect light. He will make the difference in your life. All you need to do is come to Jesus. Give your life to Jesus.

Your story will change, your name will change.
