VIGA Awards have re-branded to give the annual premium gospel gala a fresh new look, a press statement received by UG Christian News reads.

This comes at a time when the awards are commemorating 10 years of existence, since their inception in 2010.

The statement further stipulates the nomination procedure and schedule for all related events to the 2017 season are in the pipeline.

VIGA CEO Nicholas Nyombi says this year’s edition will run under the theme Ebenezer, thus far the Lord has brought us.

Mr Nyombi adds, VIGA will actualize a national tour that will see the VIGA Awards winners traverse and celebrate their victory in 10 major towns across the country, and a talent search from where the new male and female artists will always emerge for the subsequent seasons.

The awards are held annually and have increased to over 30 categories, recognizing and rewarding Christian artists, Dee Jays, producers, videographers and media personalities for their outstanding accomplishments.

“We also rename our Life Time Achievement category as Gospel Legends Category,” the statement reads.

It was 2016 that the two parties, Victoria Gospel Academy (VIGA) and the Federation of Gospel Artists of Uganda signed a special memorandum of understanding that makes the VIGA Music Awards an official activity of the gospel artist’s federation.

The duo also advised artists to seek God’s leading about composing songs that speak about all issues pertaining to humanity i.e. relationships, environment protection, entrepreneurship, business, HIV, poverty, wars, politics, corruption.
