Outspoken Ugandan Pastor and Executive Director of Arising For Christ, Moses Solomon Male has condemned the move by government to allocate tax payers’ money to Sserulanda Spiritual Foundation that operates in Kachanga, Kabira Sub-County – Kyotera district

Pastor male says this Foundation is promoted by a spiritual group which he urges operates as a cult.

The 54-year-old was speaking to media reporters on Monday when government, through the state minister for microfinance Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo contributed Ush 10 million towards the burial arrangements of the group’s founder, Mugonza Kaggwa (HIG Bambi Baaba Babuwe), who died last Tuesday at 80 years.

Mugonza, according to sources died after a strange illness leaving over 14 children, eight from one mother and the rest from other women.

“It is rather sad that Bambi Baaba Babuwe Mugonza, a man that claimed to be “God” has died, yet he had not accounted for the wrong he has done against many people who he perverted when he introduced them to a cult group. He has defrauded many, swindled their land and money, he has given out young girls to elder men for marriage.” Pr Male said.

Pastor male says Mugonza Kaggwa was a staunch Catholic who after pursuing further studies in India returned to Uganda as a traditional physician, engaging in deceptive acts.

“That this man died with no charges against him despite the numerous crimes he has committed. To add to this, even the President of Uganda handed out 10 million Shillings to help the same person who has defrauded Ugandans. I’m still in shock.” He stated.

Pastor male says government should take up responsibility and protect Ugandans against such emerging cult groups. He adds that government should extend counselings services to citizens who out of  stress and worry in their daily life are lured to join such groups.

Reports show that by the time he passed on, Mugonza had registered over 1,000 followers, who regarded him as a demigod with divine powers.

While worshipping, the followers combine, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and traditional Bachwezi practices.

The Sserulanda Secretary General, Dr Bhuka Bijumiro-Jumiro told reporters that “People think we don’t believe in God which is wrong. We believe in the Almighty God, the superior God and the creator of the universe like other religions.”

He was quick to add that Mugonza was a perfect living saint. The followers of this group are strictly forbidden from eating meat or any animal product. They do not drink alcohol.
