Joy Tendo Mata, a popular gospel minister and mother of twins turned 31 on November 27.

The famed ‘Tewali mbeera’ hit singer fought back tears of joy when she, upon arrival at Amazing Grace Gardens along Bombo road, realized that her friends had secretly organised a birthday partly for her.

This was later followed by a dinner outing exclusive to family as they celebrated her too, sources reveal.

It was an evening to remember for singer, who elsewhere received an outpouring of birthday messages from her fans on social media. “My favorite gospel artist, may you live to see the goodness of the lord in the land of the living,” one fan remarked.

Joy Tendo as a child took part in Sunday school activities then later joined the church choir at Bwaise Evangelical Church. She used to sing only in church and never did it professionally until she went to Nabinoonya Beach in Entebbe for a schools’ singing competition.

Paddy Man, a popular music producer noticed her talent and her took to a studio, where she recorded her first album ‘Tewali mbeera’. Aside music, she is a TV presenter who also runs a project called ‘Joy Tendo and the vulnerable’ where with her team they do village outreaches and donate to the elderly across Uganda.

Joy Tendo Mata is expected to launch her latest album, ‘Eyalama noi noi’ come 15 December at Mackinon Suits – Kampala.
