Mulinde, 44, converted to Christianity in 1993, and is now the head of the Gospel Life Church International in Uganda’s capital, Kampala. He is married and has seven children.

Pastor Umar Mulinde, a Christian convert from Islam who survived an acid attack in December 2011, has thanked God for her daughter, Tendo Mulinde who scored aggregate 4 in the 2017 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

Tendo (pictured above in dress with dominant pink) sat her papers at Hormisdallen School – Gayaza, off Bugema road, and explained after receiving her results last week how she wants to pursue sciences.

“My father promised to take me to Israel for further studies,” she told a state aided news daily.

In 2016, Pastor Umar Mulinde received a certificate and medal from the Tourism Ministry, recognizing him as ‘a tourism goodwill ambassador for Israel’ in Jerusalem.

With excitement over the daughter’s results, Mulinde stated that he was been blessed by God that all her Children have over the years excelled in their academics.

The ministry of Education and Sports released PLE results on 12 January, noting that fewer candidates got division one this year compared to the previous year.

“Overall performance in 2017 is better than 2016 except on division 1 level where there was a decrease. However, more children have passed at Division two. Fewer candidates failed in 2017 as compared to 2016,” UNEB secretary Dan Odong said.
