As Ugandans continue to cast the spotlight on the Police over the recent epidemic of brutality, especially supporters of former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye, Light the World Church senior Pastor Wilson Bugembe seems not to be silent about the matter too.

The famed “Lengera Embaata” hit singer took to social media proceedings from an encounter he had with unidentified soldiers.

“The soldiers ask for a prayer, a sign of humility,” he wrote

In one video footage that sparked public outrage last week, a police car knocked down one Besigye supporter as he drove through Kyebando, a suburb of Kampala.

The civilian, standing by the side of the road was knocked and the police patrol drove away. Another man in plain clothes tramples the man as he struggles to get to his feet.

On several occasions, Ugandan police brutality against civilians and government opponents has been criticized by human rights activists, religious leaders and several notable public figures worldwide .

President Museveni, during a week long cabinet, permanent secretaries and NRM Central Executive Committee retreat in Kyankwanzi earlier this week said that the NRM government does not support police brutality.

As sources report, he defended the use of batons to break illegal demonstrations as opposed to the sticks usually used by herdsmen, which the policemen were seen using to beat Dr Besigye’s supporters last month.

He also added that he was yet to meet with Gen. Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police to grid the issue of Police brutality in detail.
