Creflo Augustus Dollar, Jr. is an American televangelist, Pastor, and the founder of the World Changers Church International based in Fulton County, Georgia. He addressed his desire for a multimillion-dollar Gulfstream G650 jet something that attracted media attention and brought about ministry controversy and public/media criticism at the same time.
This request came in as the pastor’s current plane, which was acquired in 1999 yet built in 1984 had been in service for 31 years. After a number of concerning mechanical failures during flights, the ministry had to take it out of service thus the ministry launched an appeal called Project G650.
Not so long after this, the Church officials removed the video and the board of Creflo Dollar Ministries apologized for the online fundraising video seeking $60 million in donations for a new private plane, saying the request caused “confusion.” Controversy over the campaign continued although to lesser media houses interest until over the weekend when Pastor Creflo Dollar briefly addressed the Gulfstream G650 jet issue over again saying people who criticized him didn’t have a godly worldview.
“See; don’t get upset when the world says stuff and talks about stuff, and all that. They’re just looking through the wrong lens, they don’t understand,” Creflo said in a sermon uploaded to his ministry’s website.
“‘What does a preacher need with an airplane?’ They don’t know,” the preacher added. “They’ll never know because they’re not looking through the Word. They will never know, never never know.”
Board members did announced that they intended to purchase a new plane in the future, and defended that decision.
