A life of prostitution is to some a choice, a struggle for others – or an obligation. Whether one voluntarily or forcefully engages in the act, it is known to leave deep emotional, mental, physical and circumstantial scars.

Reports alone show that the fear and abuse impressed on a number of prostitutes leaves them incapable of navigating the world on their own, let alone regain their sense of self.

A Kampala-based bible collage whose mission is to prepare men and women for their God-given purpose and assignment enrolled Sharon Kalenzi, a former prostitute from China and other countries not so long ago.  This came following her experience with the 77 Days of Glory revival meeting held daily at Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral – an affiliate to the college.

Upon receiving Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the revival meeting, Sharon was introduced to a discipleship and leadership course at Miracle Bible College which kick-started her healing and recovery through the gospel.

“When we first heard about her story, we handed her over to Girl power [Ministries], a women’s department here at church and she’s been able to undergo discipleship classes which have literally transformed her life. By yesterday, she made exactly three months without sleeping with any man,” Robert Kayanja Ministries remarked on Monday.

Sharon underwent over five abortions, the Ministry stated.

“In order to continue with her business, she used to lie about her age. She tried to abort the sixth one but it failed so she delivered the baby with so many complications. Tired of her lifestyle, this lady found herself at the 77 Dogs after she returned in Uganda,” they continued.

“To her, that’s a big miracle since she couldn’t spend a day without selling herself for money. Even when there was no client, she would go to bars and drink, then masturbate. Her condition was so bad that her family members rejected her, with no friends and a sense of belonging, Sharon now celebrates her new life in Christ,” the Ministries said.
