The Busia district resident commissioner, Mr Hussein Ali Matanda has warned Christians again use of provocative and indecent language during crusades, church services.

If such language is not avoided, Mr Matanda notes, conflict among different faith denominations in the district will increase.

Mr Matanda was on Sunday speaking to Muslims who had gathered for Eid al fitr prayers at Madivira Primary school playground in Busia municipality.

He urged that many Christian crusades in Busia have failed to live up to their targets but have rather resorted to preaching against Islam.

In his statement, Mr Matanda also warned fellows Muslims against such battles, noting that anyone in the district  intending to hold a crusade will henceforth register with the district leadership.

“Every place, every ground here is under the municipal council. You are aware that Resident District Commissioner (RDC) is charged with security, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) also. We want all these crusaders when they come, to apply form the LC 1 chairperson where the crusade is going to be held. Then the letter goes to the DISO , DPC and finally to the RDC for final approval.” Hussein Ali Matanda said.

“When they apply, we give them conditions. We are not going to allow language that insults. We are not going to allow provoking violence, abusing any faith or believe.” He added.

Other speakers at the prayer meeting also called upon Muslim and Christians to have a spirit of togetherness so as to have peace in the country.
