Elected Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, commonly known as Bobi Wine has said he would everyday, for the whole of his life share 1 Timothy 4:12 with the youth, a bible verse that encourages young Christians not to adapt to low expectations of what they can achieve through Christ.

Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, who is husband to a born again mother of four, Barbie Kyagulanyi, made these remarks on Sunday after attending a church service at Gayaza Catholic parish in Wakiso District where residents handed him a portrait gift with this particular scripture [1 Timothy 4:12 ] engraved to its face.

“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

This was the charge given by the apostle Paul to Timothy, a young leader serving the church in Ephesus. Commentators estimate Timothy was in his late twenties to mid-thirties when this was written to him.

Perhaps those in Ephesus had a hard time looking up to him, associating his youthfulness with immaturity, a lack of wisdom, or life experience. Paul did not address these exact issues or people, but rather, issued a call to Timothy, urging him to set an example: regardless of the perception others had based on his age.

Bobi Wine lauded the church hospitality noting that “We felt very special today and now we know that we hold a special place in your hearts.” Kyagulanyi was with his family dedicated before God by Rev. Father Jude Makanga who led the mass.

“Not only did they pray and bless us, the parish community handed us a gift whose message I would share with the youth everyday of my life. ” Do not let any one look down on you but be an example…in all you do”. Thank you very much Gayaza Parish.” Bobi Wine, most referred to as The ghetto president remarked.

Despised youth

The fact that he came from nothing is an inspiration to many youth who have tried to imitate his music style. While other musicians lived flashy lives, Kyagulanyi invested in real estate. They disparaged him as nothing more than a drug addict inspiring a legion of addicts.

And indeed, it seemed to be true when on September 26, 2008, he openly declared that he smokes the marijuana he grows at his home in Magere.
