In 2010, Jesus Film Project and Bible translators around the world identified every language spoken in the world by 50,000 or more, that did not have a “JESUS” film yet. At that time, there were 865 of these languages.

Commitment was made to reach every one of these people with the gospel.

As we write today, the film has now reached 1,500 languages, an official World Guiness Record, according to Jesus film project and a Bible translation team in Kenya.

The latest group of people to get a translation are the Daasanach.

“Daasanach is a language spoken by 85,000 people spread amongst three countries – Ethiopia, Kenya and South Sudan. The Daasanach tribal group has a unique culture and has been reluctant to accept modern influences. ”, one can read on the website of the project.

“Although the New Testament is currently available in the Daasanach language, only 2 percent of the Daasanach can read, making the translation of “JESUS” an incredible advancement for this unreached people group. Many will now have the opportunity to hear the gospel in their own language for the first time.”

According to Jesus Film Project, The ‘Jesus film’ was first seen in 1979, when it premiered in 250 cinemas across the USA.

“Together, we made a commitment to reach every one of these people groups with the Gospel and named the initiative Mission 865”, the organisation explains.
