The final list of Nominees for Uganda’s annual Hit Awards was released on June 7, 2016. Christians from all walks of life had earlier been introduced to the awards’ categories, and granted opportunity to forward names of those they found fit to be nominated.

Speaking to Ug Christian News, Douglas Aaron Musunga of daPrince Photography is one of four that were officially nominated to the awards. He has expressed complete satisfaction to the nomination process, adding that the opportunity means a lot to him.

He was nominated in the ‘Photographer of the year’ category. Nominees to the same category are David Murungi, Daniel Echwalu, Martha K and Soul Je Riddim.

“It’s an honor to be nominated and it means a lot to me. It shows how far I have come and where am headed as a Photographer and a Christian in Business,” she says

Photography is one exceptional field and a key player for gospel artists and Churches today.

For Douglas, photography has always had a special place in his heart. The happily married father of two girls says that he earlier studied economics at the University and spent a few years working with other people. “I have done data collection analysis and for quite a number of years worked with a Christian radio station, doing different kind of shows,”

“I have always loved multimedia. I started out shooting years back when I was in primary school however, this interest intensified about 5 years ago. I had to teach myself most of the time, coupled together with attending workshops to renowned photographers. They have helped me become what I am today,”

Douglas says that on several occasions, he had to borrow or hire people’s cameras to be able to learn the tools and acquire the skill.  “It did pay off,” he says. “I heard to watch a lot of You-tube videos, read tutorials, all in effort to see what outstanding photographers do,”

He further reveals he uses this skill to promote ministries through pictures and to help Christians in business to push their products or services.

“Because of the way I work with people many times I don’t have to say am a Christian, they just end up asking if a Christian am. I build relationships with people it’s not just about the job. Relationships mean a lot more to me,”

“Of course there have been challenges and mistakes and lots of stuff to learn as a Photographer. It a journey that am glad am on. At the end of the day I would want to pass on the skills to other people that are interested. I want to help colleagues build a career in Photography,”
