If it wasn’t for God, I wouldn’t be with you here today, said South African gospel legend Dr Mapole Rebecca during her visit to Christian Life Church – Bwaise, Kampala.

Tears almost rolled down her eyes as we shared her testimony of God’s love with thousands that gathered on Monday during the Praise, Prayer, Power, Prosperity and Permanent miracles [P5] gathering.

“Maybe you would not even know my name. I would have been dead along time ago. But God says, ‘I knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb, and I knew your name before your mother named you. I know every path that you are going to walk on earth, what you are going to come across, the challenges of life , and everything – I know before you come across it – So that tomorrow, you can have a testimony and tell people that I am God.” She told the congregation.

“I could’t walk till I was 7 years old. I was supposed to die, but God spared my life. At the age of eight, I started walking – carefully, step by step, I supported myself to walls. I started walking. It was a miracle from heaven.” The multi-award winning singer said.

“All the muscles of my body were not working before. But slowly and surely, God fixed them, and made them strong. Here I am today, I can jump, walk on high heel shoes, because of God – the enemy didn’t win. That is why I say; I cannot do much in my life without you lord.” She stated.

The 48-year-old said in 1996 she lost her entire family.

“My father, mother, brother and sister. I was left alone. I asked the Lord; What did I do? What have I done wrong. I seek you Lord, I sing your songs. I praise your name and see people changing. Why, how can you do this to me?”

“Then, I was about to do the unthinkable,” she said, shortly taking a glance at Jackson Senyonga, the founding and senior pastor of Christian Life Church-Bwaise. “I sent my gardener to the shops to buy me 12 boxes of rat poison. I told him we had so many rats in this house; They are big rats – in my heart – I knew the big rat was me.”

“I remember seating in the bedroom, mixing the Rattex with hot water. As I was mixing it, I said; God can I talk to you one more time before I die; What have I done.”

“And then, one voice came to me and said – this is just a test, it will pass. You are not alone. I am here – look on your right and left, I’m here. You don’t have to be afraid.’ This condition led me to this song; Look At Me (Don’t Let Me Die).”

Born 1968, Rebecca has released 35 albums in a music career spanning more than 30 years to date. She left the country yesterday after more than 3 days of powerful ministry at the revival meeting that begun 5th January, 2017.
