Several Gospel music figures graced the 6th prestigious HiPipo Music Awards ceremony on Saturday at Serena Hotel – Kampala.

Spirit FM Presenter, King Wesley hosted the event, and ushered in a number of artistes including John Marie, Sseku Martin, Robinsan, Fortune Spice, Levixone, JK Shine, Paul Selah (the hyper-man) and many more.

Hipipo accorded The Canaan Gents an accolade for Best a cappella group in Uganda.

The group, which now includes a set of identical twins, gave thanks to God after winning the award, and commended the ‘Canaan Generation’ for continuously supporting them.

This achievement come at a time the group vision bearer, Samuel Lubwama, born March 17th, turned a year older.

Levixone amazed the congregation when he took to the stage to congratulate Swahaba Kasumba, whose song ‘Mwebale Okusiiba was announced ‘Best Religious song’.

Notably, Levixone had received a nomination under the same category with Exodus and New Chapter Africa.

Second time winning in a row, Swahaba Kasumba in his remarks complemented Levixone, who in return congratulated him and saluted the gospel fraternity.

New Chapter Africa was announced Best Gospel Act, for their hit single, ‘Bingi.

“We thank God for this achievement,” the group said, after which they dedicated the award to Mr Seguya Musa, team leader of Nessim Pan Productions for his contribution to their music.

CEO HiPipo, Innocent Kawooya explained that HiPipo Music Awards established The Hall of Fame to honor music of lasting quality that has made contributions to Uganda’s cultural heritage.

Rapper Navio received the Hall of Fame.

Also present at the awards was the Spirit 96.6 FM country Director, Sabiti Timothy and wife, Bahati Hilda.
