The First lady and Minister of education Janet Kataaha Museveni has encouraged youth to acknowledge and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and savior at an early age.

She said it is not enough to just do good works without allowing God in one’s heart.

Salvation, Mrs Museveni explained, is the ultimate gift one can receive in this life.

She was paying tribute to Major Ian Arthur Kangaho of the Special Forces Command (SFC) who passed on recently having place his faith in Jesus for salvation.

“I encourage everyone, especially the youth, seek salvation when they’re still young because it is not enough to just do good works without allowing God in one’s heart,” she said.

“If you don’t acknowledge God’s presence when you are still alive even if people speak the best about you in the end you are lost and all the life’s good works seem futile,” she continued.

Elsewhere, Mrs. Museveni while speaking at a fundraising function to raise 6billion shillings required for the construction of the Ankole Diocese Mothers Union Family Complex, urged families “to partner with God that He may reconcile His own people to Himself through Christ.”

“We must have the burden to partner with God that He may reconcile His own people to Himself through Christ. We cannot allow families where parents are permanently present and yet absent.  Men should also contribute in the raising of their children instead of leaving it to mothers alone,” she said.

The First Lady, according to a state-linked news daily, re-echoed her call to parents in Ankole Diocese and Uganda at large to pack lunch for their school going children. She explained that feeding children will enable them to perform well in class.

“Imagine a child to spend the whole day at school without eating anything! This is not good at all. Children need to be well fed and most families have the food. I encourage you to pack food for your children,” she said.
