A fundraising campaign has been created for the family of Pastor Steve Kaweesa, Ed Pohlreich and missionary Scott Volz who were killed in an accident that took place along Entebbe road this week.

The crash occurred after a vehicle they were travelling in, a Toyota Prado TX, failed to brake while on a steep slope near the church – Yeesu Akwagala. Pastor Steve Kaweesa was father to renowned musicians Kaweesa Phila and Richie Kaweesa.

“We are sad and heartbroken to announce that Pastor Ed Pohlreich, missionary Scott Volz and Pastor Steve Kaweesa were killed in an accident in Uganda on Monday, March 28th. We are all still in shock. We ask that you pray for all of the families involved,” the campaign text reads.

The goal is to raise $75,000 to cover the overwhelming and unforseen needs, such as transportation and funeral-related costs for the three families.

$25,884 of the expected $75,000 has so far been confirmed to the campaign.

“These men and their families lived everyday giving their lives to serve others, pouring their lives and resources into what they felt God had called them to do,” reads the campaign. “Our goal is to do just a little to pour back into their families to support them in this time of need,”

Pastor Wilson Bugembe spoke of  Pr. Kaweesa as one who always imparted divine wisdom and stood the taste of time.

“A God’s general, a man I admired myself. At 17 years, he started serving God. In the days of Idi Amin. He’s stood the taste of time. No competition in his heart, Very humble, Wishes others well.  Few yrs ago, he let a young man he mentored [Pr. Robert Kasozi] take on a church he started. He wanted to see the next generation fly,” stated Bugembe

Bishop David LivingStone Kiganda spoke of  Pr. Kaweesa as a great fighter in Christ, “What else can we say, only to say that, he has fought a good fight. What question can we ask to the Almighty? Since we have no right to do so! May the almighty God console his wife, children and the entire family of Seguku Worship Centre ( the Yesu Akwagala family),”

From the entire administration at UG Christian News, our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Pastor Steve Kaweesa, Pastor Ed Pohlreich and missionary Scott Volz. May God give you the peace that you seek.
