Dr. Joseph Sserwadda has addressed journalists ahead of the forthcoming Passover festival that will take place tomorrow (December 31, 2015) at Namboole Stadium.

The Presiding Apostle of the Born Again Faith and coordinator of the yet to be televised presidential debate scheduled to take place on January 15, 2016 organized by the inter-religious council; Dr. Joseph Serwadda has addressed issues of national urgency that range from National Reconciliation, Inmate Liberation and the Anti-Pornography Act.

As a new year’s gift, he has appealed to President Museveni to release the prisoners who were supposed to have been set free when the country was celebrating 50 years of independence in 2012 which was part of the biblical requirements for celebrating jubilee.

This comes in due to the recent compilation of more than 1,000 prisoners by the Uganda Prisons Department including those on death row, capital offenders remaining with six months to complete their sentences, minor offenders, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers who were never discharged yet listed.

“We thank government for passing the Anti-Pornography Act but publications, music and film videos that promote immorality still filter through the networks and should be checked. We need to safeguard the young generation which is being bombarded with floods of temptations and wickedness. A strong censure body should be instituted to do this job,” he detailed.

He continued to mention that various societal and religious leaders should undertake joint measures for national reconciliation so as to achieve restitution and restoration.

As per the directorate of ethics and integrity, Dr. Sserwada noted that the forthcoming president should turn the directorate into a fully-fledged ministry with a department for promoting even and ethically decent families.
