Married mother of four and former chairperson of the committee on rules, privileges and discipline, a permanent committee of the parliament has addressed media, condemning the country’s freshly elected Speaker of the 10th Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for visiting the shrine.

“Kadaga is a parishioner at All Saints Cathedral. Visiting a shrine is a total mockery of our faith. I was shocked given Speaker Kadaga’s decision to visit a shrine and worship the dead despite her education level,” said Miria Matembe, also former minister of ethics and integrity .

Her  statements proceed  Rt. Rev. Dr. David Zac Niringiye who said yesterday that Hon Rebecca Kadaga is active in Church of Uganda, Busoga Diocese and All Saints Cathedral Kampala.

“Demons have taken over Kadaga and are now in Parliament. It was wrong for her to visit the Shrine in her capacity as Speaker,” Miria Matembe further stated during the interview with one Tv station on Wednesday morning.

It  should be noted that Ms Kadaga defended her visit saying that, on top of this being an act of tourism,  those are her roots and that she had gone to inform her grandparents that she went through in Parliament; “I went through as the Speaker. That is all I had gone to inform them about,”

Ms Matembe was baffled by the fact that our leaders raise the Bible and the next minute, they run to the shrines. “Mockery. God is angry,” she said, later on quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Following the speakers actions, Matembe has called  for a wave of repentance in the country.
