Well-known singer, Desire Luzinda who recently announced her decision to leave secular music for the sake of Christ, has assured her audience that “I’m ready to live the life of salvation” and notes that she has been invited in schools and Churches to share her story.

Desire says she is confident her experience can help someone, “probably a little girl out there going through a tough time.”

She made this revelation during a televised talk show ‘The Chat Room’ hosted by Karitas Karisimbi.

The 34-year-old said “God doesn’t condemn us but sadly the world judges and condemns us.”

“There was too much character assassination and condemnation and this was very depressing,” Desire said.

As UG Christian News reported last month, Desire gathered journalists within the capital, Kampala to announce her departure from secular music in order to pursue her calling in Christ. This discussion, she said, didn’t happen over night.

“Much as I tried hard to hold on to the microphone and pursue my career, deep within me, I knew I was transitioning into what the Lord had called me for; I’m a worshiper, I’m not afraid to say it. I’m actually very proud,” she told journalists then.

Adding: “I’m now switching to God. I’m switching to gospel music. I’m proud of that. I’m Born-again.”

The singer told Karitas she is still going to perform and do what she has to do until her gospel album is ready.

“That’s the transition I’m talking about. Whatever God tells me to do I’ll do. I believe I’ve a story to tell that will nurture someone out there,” he explained.

Has Desire already obtained a role at Phaneroo International Ministries? Apparently not (yet).

“I haven’t joined choir at Phaneero yet but if God leads me there then why not. A good friend invited me to Phaneero fellowship but I was fearful because my previous church was quite small and judgemental and now facing dozens of people at Phaneero was dreadful,” she said.

“I went to Phaneero and the people there were very welcoming. In everything I did I was just waiting on God and I didn’t care about the judgement anymore,” she added.

Desire said fans should give her room to be herself and know that she too makes mistakes.

“To all the young girls out there, find yourself, love yourself and seek God in all that you do. There’s no shortcut in life. Everything around you can fail you but God will never fail you.”
