Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s son, Prince Richard Ssemakokiro was on Saturday baptized at St Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe in Kampala, Uganda’s capital

This ceremony was conducted at Hannington Chapel by Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira with assistance from Can. Benon Kityo and Vicar Festo Kalungi.

It was graced by Kabaka Mutebi II, his wife, Sylvia Nagginda, religious leaders among other dignitaries and Royals from the Kingdom.

Born in July, 2011, Ssemakokiro is the 5th child of the Buganda King and 2nd boy in the family.

When his birth was made public and mother confirmed not to be Nagginda on January 17, 2012, a sect of Ugandans took to social media to react to the news, some pointing to the “obvious adultery” while others arguing that the “King has the right” to do whatever he wants.

Semakokiro’s Mother, Rose Nansikombi has never appeared before media. She is a daughter of elder Ssalongo George Edward Sserebe and Nnaalongo Christine Nalubanjwa, of Nswanta village, Bamunanika county in Luweero district, URN reports.

The prince was named Ssemakookiro like the Kabaka’s great-grandfather Semakookiro Wasajja Nabbunga who was Buganda’s 27th king. He reigned between 1797 and 1814 and remembered to have fought fierce wars that expanded Buganda’s boundaries to the west.

Royals, Chrispin Jjuju Kiweewa and ‘Nnaalinya Lubuga’ Dr Christine Nabaloga were presented before Church as Ssemakokiro’s ‘godparents’, and that they will ensure that he is guided and brought up in Christian faith, a fulfillment of baptismal promises.
