From the time the Most Rev Monsignor Vincent Kirabo was selected by His Holiness Pope Francis till the consecration yesterday, an overwhelming number of messages of support, tributes and congratulations have been received by the Archdiocese.

Monsignor Vincent Kirabo was consecrated as the new Bishop of Hoima Diocese at a ceremony held at Our Lady of Lourdes Bujumbura Cathedral in Hoima yesterday.

Numerous dignitaries including the Omukama of Bunyoro, His Highness Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, Michael August Blume, the Apostolic Nuncio (pope’s ambassador) to Uganda among others.

Preparations have been underway since the year begun and the new Bishop replaces the Apostolic Administrator of Hoima, Bishop Lambert Bainomugisha who has served for six years.

Archbishop of Mbarara Diocese Paul Bakyenga performed the Episcopal ordination and he later said that the title of Bishop is not of honor but of service. He described Bishop Kirabo as a very kind and gentle person and called on the new Bishop and other Church leaders at large to serve the people and not to rule them.

Ug Christian News Team wishes Bishop Kirabo God’s abundant blessing in his new position and offer him our continued prayers and support.
