Leaders, artists from Uganda and the world over pay tribute to TBN’s Jan Crouch

Jan Crouch, a co-founder of Trinity Broadcasting Network and popular televangelist, died following a stroke, her son announced Tuesday via a posting on his and his wife’s website. She was 78.

“Laurie and I have just watched the transition of our precious mother from this world to the next; watched her step into the presence of Jesus and into her heavenly reward,” Matt and Laurie Crouch said in a statement.
“Jan Crouch, known around the world as Momma Jan, has gone home.”
Crouch and her late husband, Paul, founded Trinity Broadcasting Network, now known as TBN, in 1973 and watched it grow to become the world’s largest and most successful religious broadcasting network.

Pastor Joseph Prince shared his grief on Facebook. “Deepest condolences to our dear friends, Matt & Laurie Crouch, on the passing of Jan Crouch. I speak God’s love and great comfort over the entire Crouch family. We mourn with you during this time.”

Dusabe Peter, Director, Pacesetters’ Initiative for Africa wrote, “Oh dear. The memory of the righteous shall indeed not be forgotten. She planted seed in this world, heavenly reward awaits,”

Christian TV personality and gospel singer Pamela Senyonga N commented saying, “So sad may her soul rest in peace,”

Hillsong’s Brian Houston, who’s church is launching the new Hillsong Channel on the network she helped found, said it only was possible because of her. “Today Jan Crouch enters heaven as @HillsongChannel commences tomorrow. It’s only possible because of her legacy,” tweeted Brian Houston, senior pastor of the influential Hillsong Church that started in Australia but now as campuses around the world.

Award-winning Worship leader Israel Houghton wrote, “My deepest condolences to the @TBN & Crouch family. I knew Momma Jan for 25 years. She was always kind to me”

CEO & Founder at Cyrus Rod Ministries, Pr Cyrus Rod wrote, “Crossed into glory land,”

Singer Nicole C. Mullen added, “Ms. Jan Crouch was a wonderful lady who had a Big heart for people…especially the little ones, the least of”

Pastor Jesse Duplantis, who is regularly seen on TBN, talked about his reaction to the news of Jan’s passing. “Even though Jan Crouch is in heaven I feel a little empty inside. I will always cherish the moments we had together. Rest in peace my friend,” he tweeted.

Gospel singer Jackie Akello wrote, “Her burning passion for Christ always moved me..will miss her..R.I.P”

Jan was the daughter of Edgar and Laurie Bethany. Her father was a preacher and official in the Assemblies of God denomination. Her husband, Paul Crouch Sr. died in 2013.
