Dr. Mrs. Margaret Sekidde speaks during the Red-sofa Sessions at Garden City root-top, Kampala.

Mrs. Margaret Sekidde, wife to Lt. Col. Robert, with whom they founded Seroma Christian High School in September 2002 has said that they focus on prayer, accompanied with a fast every time they intend to hire new employees for their multi-billion businesses.

Mrs. Margaret emphasizes that while she might need to find someone with the right skill for the job, Character is crucial while evaluating prospective employees.

“You can hire someone because of their papers, but at the end chase them away because of their character.” Mrs. Margaret points out.

This was said during the Red Sofa Sessions held in Uganda’s capital Kampala last month ending.

Proud to be a Director of one of the most outstanding faith-based education institutions in Uganda, Mrs Margaret says Seroma Christian High School has exalted biblical values to prove that faith in God is a prerequisite for academic excellence.

Mrs. Margaret says that Prayer had helped her, and the entire family go through several challenges both at home and at work.

“The Church must wake up. One thing everyone should know is that the devil doesn’t want Christians to succeed. I and my husband have faced a lot of witchcraft in life – Like where Seroma Christian High school stands today. We faced a lot of resistance. Witchcraft in business is real. You must be very prayerful and spiritually alert. Our God is bigger” He states.

The Sekiddes have on several occasions been featured as success entrepreneurs who have built Uganda’s biggest hardware dealership on nothing but faith in God.

The Honorary doctorate degree holder owes the success of Seroma Hardware to faithfulness, handwork and God.

She is at this point in life drawn to mentoring young men to achieve their dreams, a point in case being Simon Ssekankya, the director of Hardware World Ltd

“Christians tend to be lazy. Laziness leads to poverty. In all businesses, I get involved personally. You will find me in the stores as early as 5 am to see who comes late. Truth is that Ugandans are not trustworthy, out of 100 people, 80 are employed to steal from your company. You have to be faithful and involved.” The 53-year-old states, adding that together with the husband, they are fully engaging their children in the business to learn and take over the offices soon.
