In 2012 a group of youth led by Dusabe Peter, a 1st year student then at Kyambogo University, set out on a journey that would later take the gospel of Jesus Christ to hundreds of youth across Uganda and, in a way give youth in these communities a cause to live.

For the last 5 years, the youth have through an organisation named ‘Pacesetters’ Initiative for Africa‘ shared the gospel of Jesus Christ in several schools and universities around Uganda including King’s College Budo, Kibuli SS, Kiira College Butiki, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, to mention but a few.

“When we started this ministry in 2012 we had no idea of how far we would go and what God had in plan for us, all we had to do was to take the first step and later discover the whole staircase. Over years, God has enabled us to have first-hand experience with the issues that affect the personal lives of our youth and the communities where they live.” Mr Dusabe Peter says.

“Our impact pivots on challenging the youth to step out as examples in society because we believe you cannot expect others to be what you are not. We envision a generation of youth that is willing to take a bold stand in the gap for their families and their own communities.” Mr Dusabe explains.

“The future of our nation rests in our hands and we just cannot wait till we are thirty and above for us to make a lasting difference. We challenge them to pray for their governments, render help to their peers, be counselors to fellow youth and take up responsibility when opportunity knocks.” He adds.

Their vision is “A generation of spiritually and morally awakened individuals that are passionate drivers of change in all societal aspects inspired by the word of God and a rich African heritage,” and they serve this vision through five major program areas namely, The Pacesetters Education Fund, The Pacesetters Writers Ministry, The Pacesetters Response Network, The Pacesetters Leadership Forum and The Pacesetters Platforms & Gatherings.

Through these programs, youth in schools and universities have been won to Christ, discipled and empowered to be the change agents in their communities as they raise the banner for Christ.

“Let the youth wake up to the honest truth that without them there is no sane future for their communities. Youth standing, we shall see a totally new world with new innovations, inventions and a difference in the way we do business here.” Mr Dusabe says.
