The African Children’s Choir (ACC) is a large choir made up of children ages 7 to 12 from several African nations. With more than 30 years of sharing the gospel through music across the world, the choir is working up to the release of their long awaited 2016 project, REJOICE.

With details from a press statement released earlier, ACC has teamed up with the Young African Voices to bring the first single of a project titled ‘I belong.’

“Originally written and performed by Irish singer, song writer and worship leader Kathryn Scott, I belong speaks earnestly to the heart behind the work of the African Children’s Choir in multiple African countries over the last 35 years. It speaks to the story of hope and sense of belonging that the African Children’s Choir has managed to bring to thousands of children over the years through the love of Jesus,” the statement reads.

Music Director, Barbara Serunjogi Walusimbi shared, “The song ‘I belong’ is a gift presented to the African Children’s Choir by song writers, Kathryn Scott and Mildred Rainey. It’s a song that speaks the unchallengeable truth for every former and present member of the African Children’s Choir. No matter what is going on in our lives, we belong to Jesus Christ. And as such, we are a chosen generation.”

The Choir has released a number of albums and DVDs over the years, and has performed at major events and venues around the world. The Choir has appeared at the British House of Commons and the Pentagon, at some of the world’s most prestigious halls, including the Royal Albert Hall, the London Palladium, the International Club of Berlin and the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Belgium.

ACC also appears on Michael W. Smith’s 2008 album A New Hallelujah, which was live recorded during a worship concert in Houston.

This new project will be geared by award nominated producers Tre Shepherd and Ian Hannah.
