I was not sure of what to expect from this event the very first day it was announced and introduced to the Christian fraternity. Three months down the road, it is with great confidence that I affirm that with Good Times, I’ve had good times.

You know how reserved we can be at the thought of something new. I had the opportunity of meeting Sami-K, one of the chief organizers of the monthly Christian gathering.

His real name is Samuel Kiggundu. For those within circles, you will agree that Sami-K has made a noble contribution to the gospel music industry. He is gifted at music production, background vocals and vocal training.

Right about 1999, Sami-K joined Watoto’s Children Choir, where he had been a leader from 1997. He ministered, worked and traveled with the team for close to two years. It is in 2001 that he took on a solo music career, recording several songs and spearheading a number of activities that include what we are talking about right now.

All holidays should be Good Times. It is all about exalting God, being inspired by gospel ministers, having clean fan and interacting with friends, as Sami-K narrates.

“Good Times is a family event and it’s live music that the entire family will enjoy. The first was ‘Celebrate’ with Steve Keys Kigozi and Hebron Band, then ‘Africa to the World’ with Daisy Ejang and Noah Nduwayo, ‘Afro Reggae and Soul’ with Levixone and Jonas Rayme,” he continued “Now we have Brian Lubega and Solomon Kalungi.”

Each event is different just as the themes suggest. Sami-K says that the intention of Good Times is to celebrate the established artistes who the Good Times band play along with. The artistes are strictly Christian and have to be excellent in what they do.

“Our intention is to grow our Gospel music industry and standard from CD to live band. And also give Christians an alternative source of clean entertainment that not only cuts across the entire family but also up lifting spiritually. We are also giving exposure to very talented upcoming artistes who mostly have recorded, but never had a platform big enough for exposure,” he says.

This month’s event is slated for Sunday, 25th at Gatto Matto along Bandali Rise, Kampala, Uganda. Doors open at 4pm, with entrance at 10,000/= ugx.

“Its Going to be an amazing evening as we are joined by Brian Lubega, a Psalmist that many people have come to love and worship to his songs. He is going to take us through his music journey of our favorite songs. New featured artiste, Airtel Trace contestant Solomon Kalungi will go live with the Good Times Band,” Sami-K further urged.
