Two are better than one, so they say. You might apply this in all areas of life but never and I mean never apply it in a relationship.

Many times, we are tempted to treat love like a game. We value it, fantasise about how cool and prestigious it would be to be in love but never believe love can one day turn out sour and even hurt us. Any person who has tasted the emptiness of a breakup will tell you they wished they had someone else to run to immediately for solace.

And unfortunately many rush into other relationships because they want to get back at their ex. But the desire to quickly fill up the emptiness won’t be filled with another man or woman waiting to be roped into a relationship.

All you actually need after a breakup is the energy to pick up your esteem and raise your chin again. It’s not the desire to be loved, it’s a desire to feel worthy of love.

But some feel disappointed after a few heartbreaks that they opt to start playing games. They end up having a queue of people ‘in love’ with them – and they silence their conscience. At first it will feel desirable and thrilling until karma catches up with you.

You will start walking on egg shells and create puzzling phone passwords, which will even confuse you too. Imagine having to look around every time you are with the other guy! Your life will turn into a horror movie and you will hate every bit of this game.

After making a fool out of them both, will you feel better? Will you be proud of the woman you have turned into? Will that heal your scars or will that make you immune to heartache? The answer to all this is NO. You will even be more broken than you felt before.

You will hate yourself and will wish to bury that edition of your life. But whatever you do, know you will never succeed. Like a trail, the many lovers will follow you around. The shame of being greedy will devour your spirit until you love no more.

Don’t be deceived; no one can ever flee karma’s punishments. You might walk away after your empire has collapsed but that will not be the end. Every tear the other parties shed will come back to torment you. You might not pay back the time and resources they spent on you but somehow it will choke you. Where you succeed, it will sit like a huge stone in your stomach.

No one deserves these games. No one should be lied to after all no one really ever asks for heartbreak. Those people are not the ones who hurt you in the first place and if there’s any human bone left within you – let them go and start afresh. The day you will stop appreciating love is the day you will stop living. Don’t fall on your own sword. One man at ago is the new trend.
